Survival Skill of the Day: Frying an egg on toasted bagel with broken kitchenette

Today I made fried egg on toasted bagel and hot tea with only one functional hotplate, broken faucet, and most kitchenware still packed away. Here’s how.

ktown pad, im no hobo
I’m not a hobo I swear!

For those who don’t know I recently moved to KTown, YAY! But my place is actually horribly malprepared, with painting still happening when I “moved in”, missing things like heater or window screens, broken kitchennete, and filthy, filthy bathroom. Also, I cannot unpack or furnish yet due to upcoming bedbug treatment.

But I am a survivor! As soon as I got one hotplate working, I went to action!

Fried egg on toasted bagel with tea and side salad, manual for 1 with dysfunctional kitchenette:

  • Top pot – the ‘egg-frying pan’
  • Strainer – the ‘toaster’
  • Blue pot – the ‘kettle’
  • Styrofoam cup (from Coffee Bean) – the ‘teacup’
  • Aluminium foil – the ‘cutting board’
  • Veggies – washed in bathroom

And you know what? It was the best goddamn fried egg on bagel I’ve had in my 25 years.
